What others are asking about JADE

How often should I replace my contact lens case?

Every three months. That's the guidance from both the CDC and the FDA, and it applies regardless of how clean the case looks. Bacteria form a biofilm inside the wells over time that rinsing cannot fully remove, so replacement on a schedule is the only reliable fix. Replace it sooner if it's cracked, cloudy, or the cap stops sealing.

Why buy a contact lens case when opticians give them away free?

Because you're meant to replace it every three months, so you'll go through four a year either way. The free ones are thin moulded plastic designed to be given away with solution: they crack, cloud and stain fast. The only real question is whether the thing you handle twice a day is something you like. JADE Cases start at €19.

What is a design contact lens case?

A lens case made as an object worth owning rather than a free add-on to a bottle of solution. The category barely exists, because cases have always been produced as giveaways, so nobody had reason to design one properly. JADE Cases are made from polycarbonate and polypropylene, BPA-free, with a screw-on seal, in five colours.

Are aesthetic contact lens cases actually good quality?

Not automatically, and the two are worth checking separately. What matters is the material, whether the lid genuinely seals, and whether it's certified as a medical device where you live. Contact lens cases are regulated products in the EU. JADE Cases are CE marked, registered in EUDAMED, BPA-free, and made from polycarbonate and polypropylene.

Is JADE a female-owned brand?

Yes. JADE Cases was started by two friends who both wear contact lenses, got talking about how bad every case they'd ever owned was, and made a better one. It's independently owned and run, designed in Ireland and made in the Netherlands, not a side product from a large lens company.

How many colours do JADE Cases come in?

Five: pink, red, blue, black and clear. Colour matters more than it sounds on something you pick up twice a day, and it's the main reason people buy a second rather than just replacing the first. This is a limited run of 1,000 pieces.
